A Valentine’s Day gift from Mented Cosmetics: Red Lip Trio*

It doesn’t have to be Valentine’s Day or Christmas for you to enjoy a bold red lip: you can wear it in any setting such as date night, party or even at work. I mean, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wears it all the time, so why not? I think she would also be a fan of the Mented Cosmetics Red Lipstick Trio*.

I’ve been a part of Mented Cosmetics’ PR list for almost 2 years and it’s really exciting to see them grow their brand and expand their products, especially when makeup for WOC is high in demand. I have a few of their nude lipsticks, lip glosses, eyeshadow palette and glow lotions.

There are 3 red matte lipsticks in different undertones packaged in beautiful, sleek boxes. You can purchase here for $50, but often times Mented Cosmetics has a sale (which is going on right now!). Unfortunately, you have to buy the trio and cannot purchase separately, yet! (Fingers crossed)

Red Rover*

Red Rover has a blue undertone, making this shade the coolest-toned outof the three. It almost kinda reminds me of MAC’s Russian Red. It is also the darkest and vampiest: definitely will be a fall staple for me.

Red & Butter*

Red & Butter has a golden undertone, making this the warmest of the three. It’s also my favorite because it just goes well with my skintone the most but also because it’s has the most casual vibe: definitely not as intimidating as Red Rover and is a great starter sample introducing people to red lipstick. I can see myself wearing this regularly at work.

Red Carpet*

Out of the trio, Red Carpet is the most neutral and exudes that classic Hollywood red lip vibe that automatically comes to mind. I don’t have MAC’s Ruby Woo (my sister does though) and I think that’s what Red Carpet reminds me of the most.

I guess it looks like I won’t be buying red lipsticks for a while, and why would I need to when I have these 3 beauties in my arsenal now? All of the shades are stunning, but I especially love Red & Butter. Also, even though they are matte, they are very comfortable on my lips and I am someone who struggles greatly with dry lips and a dry mouth. Just add balm beforehand. I absolutely recommend these if you’re struggling to find that perfect red lip and are interested in experimenting with different shades.
