As much as I love wearing foundation, I don’t have the time in the morning to go through the skincare-prime-apply-set-bronze-highlight-set again process everyday. I tend to be an “all or nothing”-type of gal with my makeup too: I either go full-glam or you will see me with a bare face, my dark circles and Rudolph red nose. Recently, I’ve created a beauty routine that’s quick, no-fuss, but still makes me look presentable and not tired. And that routine includes the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (because this name is too damn long, for blogging purposes I will just refer this as bareMinerals Tinted Gel Cream).

I needed a base that would give me a decent amount of coverage, but not too much to where it feels heavy on my skin. As much as I love my It Cosmetics CC Cream and the high SPF it provides, it still felt like it had “too much” coverage. Don’t get me wrong, it makes my skin look flawless and airbrushed. But have you noticed that when you reach for a full-coverage base, you feel like you have to then add blush, bronzer, highlight (the whole nine yards)?

I’ve heard so many good things in the blogosphere about the bareMinerals Tinted Gel Cream, and it was on my wishlist for a while. It is $30 and comes in a squeezable tube.

I tested it out on myself when I was at Ulta back in October and matched best with the shade 6-Ginger (medium skin with warm undertones). There are 16 shades, and you can find the shade that best matches you through bareMinerals’ shade finder.

This tinted moisturizer has been my go-to base for work everyday because I sleep in and I just dab a few dots of these all over my face and rub them together in circular motion. I know you can also apply it with a sponge or a brush too. The coverage is sheer-medium. While it does even out my skin tone and makes it look brighter, it does not cover the redness on my nose. I love how it doesn’t make me look cakey at all (like the Tarte BB cream I tried in 2014), yet at the same time it has a decent amount of coverage (the drugstore BB creams I tried feel like glorified lotions with barely any tint). Yes, it is hydrating and feels amazing for my dry skin, and it adds some luminosity so I don’t have to wear highlighter. It feels like second skin, not extra makeup sitting on top of it. I sometimes forget to take it off before going to bed! You can bronze or contour with this tinted moisturizer, or tone it down for a “no-makeup” makeup look. On most days, I dab my Glossier Cloud Paint in “Haze” for naturally flushed cheeks.

I just have to be careful to not put too much (especially in the tube it’s in, there’s no pump to measure how much you should put on your face) because then it makes me look TOO oily or greasy. So I would say that if you have oily skin, you probably wouldn’t like this because of the extra luminosity and because of the fact that is sheer.

Notice how my nose on the left photo is really red, but in the center it kinda (but not all the way) covers that redness?

The bareMinerals Tinted Gel Cream helps me not look like I just rolled out of bed (even though I do 95% of the time), and gives me that awake and alert look. I highly recommend this for for ladies with dry skin and love a glowing, dewy finish, especially if you have an “on-the-go” lifestyle. I love this so much that I even included it in my Project Pan 2018!
