Glamlite Pizza Palette

Food-themed palettes have been popular since the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette made its debut in 2013. Since then, they’ve created various chocolate bars and even the peach-themed palette.

I’ve been hoping for Too Faced to conceptualize a pizza-themed palette or I would have to design one myself. My wish was granted when Glamlite created their own!

Glamlite is an indie beauty brand created by Gisselle Hernandez, who was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in Brooklyn most of her life. Living in New York meant that she has experienced eating damn delicious pizza, and she ate it at least 3 times a week during college because it was accessible and affordable. Gisselle has also been teased for her size and for being different, which of course would bother anyone, but she also used it to embrace who she was and express her passion for pizza and makeup. Her story is so inspiring to me because I too have felt (even to this day) different from others.

The packaging of the Pizza Palette is so creative that it’s unreal: it comes in a pizza box! Oh, and the palette itself is huge: this is not a palette you can take with you on the road. I would say that this about the size of the average small or medium pizza in the U.S. That is huge and there’s no way you can put that in a makeup bag!

The palette comes with 18 different toppings—err, I mean shades of neutrals and bright, poppin’ colors and various finishes. The toppings are not vegan, but the shades are (and cruelty-free too!)

I was pretty surprised to see how pigmented most of the shades are: in fact,  Green Peppers stained my brush! The only one that isn’t pigmented is Black Olives, the deep black shade. You have to swatch deeply until you get that true black opacity.

Here are some looks I created with the Pizza Palette:

The only truly bad thing about this palette is that it always makes me crave for pizza, (although Cecilio and I sometimes have it once a week when we’re too tired to cook).

The Pizza Palette is not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay! But if you like fun, quirky items, you just might be into it or gift a family member or friend with it!

Gisselle isn’t done yet though: she’s on a roll with releasing the Burger Palette the other day and I just pre-ordered! I’m loving the color story: pops of bright green and magenta (Red Onions).

It sure is some people’s cup of tea because some brands are plagiarizing the pizza palette, as Gisselle mentioned in her personal palette here:

She had lots of support from her followers, letting her know she made it to the top when others try to copy her, even in a shoddily way.

Have you heard about Glamlite’s Pizza or Burger palettes?
