I’ve talked about my love for Mented Cosmetics several times in this blog and my older blog, and right now they are killing it with launching their new products. They first started out with nine lipsticks and three nail polishes, and last year they came out with four lip glosses. This year, they released an eyeshadow palette and their Summer Collection*.

Mented Cosmetics’ Summer Collection consists of three new shimmer lotions called the Glow for Grown Ups* and three new lip gloss shades. Each shade was developed with melanin in mind.

Glow for Grown Ups*

Who says you can’t have the bronzed goddess aesthetic if you are already tan? Glow for Grown Ups* ($25 each or $60 for the whole collection) has 3 shades that warm up your skin and with shimmers that give you the lovely, 3D glow as if you were lying on the beach all day. These lotions are 0.75 oz and come in with a pump and cap, and they are incredibly versatile: you can use them on your body, as a bronzer, blush or highlighter, depending on your skin tone. You can even use them as eyeshadow!

Glow Up*: rose gold. Since this is a bit too dark for me to use as a highlighter, I use it as a blush instead.

Glow Out*: this shade is the classic gold shade that I use as a bronzer. It’s pigmented, but not too much. It’s buildable for that subtle warmth.

Glow On*: a rich bronze that’s too dark for me to use as a bronzer/contour, so I prefer to pop this on my lids for extra shimmer and color. Those with deeper skin tones than mine will LOVE this.

All of these appear insanely pigmented as a swatch on the arm, but they are sheerer and more natural looking once applied on your face. I only use half a pump on each bottle so I don’t waste product.

Summer Lip Gloss Collection*

I love me some lippies, and I love talking about them too! The Summer Lip Gloss Collection* ($15 each or $40 for all of them) consists of three NEW shades, and they are much more pigmented than their Gloss For Grown Ups Collection (which is one the sheerer side and you have to swipe 3 times for intense color). In fact, I would say that these have the same pigmentation as the NYX butter lip glosses. Like most lip glosses, they disappear while eating and drinking so you have to reapply, which I don’t mind because they keep my lips moisturized.

Coralition*: Warm coral peach. It looks really juicy and makes my lips appear plumper. Gorgeous for the spring and summer!

Pink About Me*: I’m not a fan of nude lip glosses, but this one is OK. I feel like it would look better on a lipstick than on its own.

#1 Cran*: Ahh, my #1 favorite (pun intended) product in the collection. I have been wearing this gorgeous hot pink shade everyday! You know that I love bright pink lips, and this is no exception. Heaven help me if I lose this…no, I promise I will take care of it so I won’t! Lol! I hope Mented develops more bright, fun shades in the future!

Overall, I am really impressed with Mented Cosmetics’ Summer Collection and I would highly recommend their products to anyone and everyone, especially for Women of Color who have a hard time purchasing makeup because of the lack of shade ranges in the market. Unfortunately, they still only ship in the U.S., but hopefully they will start shipping internationally soon so that my fellow bloggers can also test their amazing products!
