Aside from Christmas and Cecilio’s birthday falling on winter, it is my least favorite holiday. I cannot stand cold weather whatsoever, I find it incredibly difficult to get out of bed and I am so thankful that Cecilio walks the dogs before I wake up (sometimes I do walk them if he gets up too late and doesn’t have time to walk them though). I then go through the painful process of finding something to wear, especially in layers (and especially wearing tights under pants, which squeezes the circulation out of my thighs). Getting out of my apartment doesn’t seem so bad, until I get in my car and touch the steering wheel. My Raynaud’s phenomenon start to kick in and my hands turn numb, even with gloves. Ouch. I also get sick more around January, and my joints get stiffer, especially during weather changes.
Sharing my faith in the blogosphere
Throughout my years of blogging, I mention talking about my faith in God here and there, and how it’s helped me get me get through a lot of trials and joys in my life. I kinda mention it in my old blog when I dedicated a post of the 3 verses Cecilio and I chose for our readings from The Book of Common Prayer (which is commonly used in Episcopal and Anglican churches) for our wedding. Lately though, I’ve had an inkling to post about my faith as a Christian. You could say it’s Spirit-led for me to even write about this. Part of me wanting to write about this is because it’s a new year, and I want to be more in touch with my spiritual side by praying to God more again throughout the day (and not just if I am in dire need of something), reading the Bible and devotionals.
My winter candle collection
What better time to give your home a sense of hygge than winter? Though I despise winter weather, I love the little elements of comfort that go with the season: Christmas spirit, a hot drink, extra cuddles with Cecilio and lots and lots of lights and candles.
My apartment Christmas decor
Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
One of the things I love about having my own apartment is being able to decorate it how I want it. Cecilio and I have lived at home with our families prior to getting married, and I’ve just been extra excited to decorate for the holidays!
Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette
As much as I love Too Faced, I haven’t bought a lot of products from them because I felt like the packaging and quality of the eyeshadows (and other products) dipped. It also felt like they were just trying to push out as much limited edition items as possible. Like I said, their latest palettes felt half-assed, such as the mini Chocolate Chip palettes (which is just an all-matte version of the Chocolate Bar palette). While I loved the concept of the Clover palette (how CEO Jerrod Blandino pays homage to his dog and donated money to Best Friends Animal Society), I wasn’t too hot about the shades or the overly cute packaging. It’s something my 12-year-old self would’ve loved, and trust me, I do love cute things! And let’s not get to how I think the colors of the new White Chocolate Bar palette are way too light and not WoC-friendly. No thank you. However, when I saw photos months ago of the Too Faced Chocolate Gold palette, I knew I needed it in my hands.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Palette vol. 3
I’ve always loved Hourglass’ palettes and blushes, and I’ve heard nothing but great reviews about them. My first and only Hourglass product is their Mineral Veil Primer which I absolutely adore because even though it’s mattifying (and I have dry skin), it gives me a soft glow. When I saw the Ambient Lighting Edit Volume 3 palette though…I needed to have it. It was on my radar for weeks, but I couldn’t justify spending $80 on a single palette. Luckily, my mom and stepdad gifted me with a $50 Sephora gift card for my birthday, and I waited until the VIB sale to take the plunge and purchase it, and I ended up spending only $19. It may seem steep spending $80, until you see how each Ambient Lighting powder/blush/bronzer runs in between $22–$50, so you’re getting a great deal getting multiple shades in this little palette.
Building my Makeup Geek Eyeshadow collection
Though I have a bajillion eyeshadow palettes, I have been reaching for my loose Makeup Geek eyeshadow pans.
